When Danny Trussell started his remodeling company in September 2006 with a business partner and a truck, operating out of his family's garage, he had a straightforward idea: a house isn't really finished until it feels like home. Twenty years later, that idea has built something remarkable. Trussell's Transformations, the family-owned remodeling company serving Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and surrounding communities, is celebrating two decades in business this September, marking the milestone with a team of 17 employees and approximately 8,500 completed projects.
The anniversary is more than a longevity story. It represents nearly 8,500 kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and rooflines across the metro area, each shaped by the same hands-on philosophy that started it all. "Trussell's has always been more than a business to us. It's been a huge part of our family's life for the past 20 years. Our kids basically grew up in this business. A lot of our employees have been with us so long they feel like family at this point, and honestly, plenty of our customers have turned into friends too. That's what makes reaching 20 years so special," Danny Trussell said.
The company's growth has been methodical. After opening in 2006 as a remodeling-focused operation, Trussell's added its own granite fabrication shop in 2008, bringing stonework in house instead of outsourcing it. The business moved to its current Albuquerque location in 2015, and cabinet lines were added in 2017, rounding out a full slate of services that now includes cabinets, granite and quartz countertops, flooring, roofing, and related home improvements.
What sets Trussell's apart, according to the company, is its staffing model. Most of the work inside a customer's home is done by the company's own employees, not rotating subcontractors. That matters on larger projects involving several stages and trades. Homeowners see the same faces throughout instead of a new crew showing up every week, and one team remains responsible for the whole job. This consistency has helped the company build a reputation over two decades.
Danny and Christy Trussell currently own the company. Trussell's Transformations holds a New Mexico GB-98 general contractor's license and is a member of both the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico and the Natural Stone Institute, credentials that reflect two decades of standing behind the work.
For homeowners considering a remodel, the company invites them to experience its craftsmanship in person at its Albuquerque showroom at 8023 Edith Blvd NE. No appointment is necessary. Visitors can explore rows of cabinet styles, slabs of granite and quartz, hardware finishes, and flooring samples. The design team is available to answer questions and help start planning a project. The showroom is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is closed on weekends.
The company also offers flexible financing options, aiming to remove the barrier that often turns a dream kitchen or long-overdue bathroom into "someday." With quick approval and predictable monthly payments, Trussell's wants homeowners to stop waiting and start living in the home they actually want.
Looking ahead, co-owner Christy Trussell says, "Twenty years makes us incredibly proud of where we've been, but we're also excited about what comes next. We want to keep helping families create homes that aren't just beautiful, but truly work better for the way they live." As the company enters its next chapter, it remains focused on the same principle that launched it from a garage: a house isn't finished until it feels like home.
