The Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) will host its first annual international conference and celebrate its 20th anniversary from October 2–4, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Claremont in Claremont, California. The event will be available both in person and virtually, welcoming participants from around the world. The conference theme, "Rooted in Well-Being, Planted in Community, Cultivated by Hope," reflects TRI's commitment to fostering resilience across diverse communities.
TRI's international network now extends across all 50 U.S. states and more than 77 countries, a milestone that underscores the growing global demand for trauma-informed and resiliency-focused approaches. By bringing together natural leaders, educators, practitioners, researchers, and community partners, the conference aims to deepen connections and explore new possibilities for expanding this work worldwide.
The three-day gathering will focus on the application of the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® and Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® across different communities, professional settings, and populations. Programming includes presentations, discussions, interactive learning opportunities, and practical tools that participants can incorporate into their own work. Key topics will include real-world applications of CRM and TRM, emerging research, community-based initiatives addressing trauma and chronic stress, and meaningful collaboration among practitioners, educators, and partners globally.
Both CRM and TRM are designed to help individuals understand the biological effects of trauma and chronic stress while learning skills that support balance and well-being. The conference will highlight how these models are being used to strengthen individuals and communities in culturally responsive and accessible ways. This emphasis on practical, biologically based skills is particularly important as communities worldwide continue to face collective stressors, from natural disasters to systemic inequities. By equipping natural leaders and practitioners with these tools, TRI aims to build sustainable, community-driven resilience.
In addition to the main conference, TRI will hold a 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, October 3. Separate tickets are required for the gala. The conference will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Claremont, located at 555 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, CA 91711. Virtual attendees will access programming through the Whova online platform.
Registration deadlines are approaching: in-person registration closes September 10, 2026, while virtual registration remains open through September 30, 2026. The significance of this conference extends beyond a single event. It represents a critical moment for the global resilience community to reflect on two decades of impact and to strategize for the future. As trauma and chronic stress continue to affect individuals and communities worldwide, TRI's models offer scalable, evidence-informed strategies that can be integrated into education, healthcare, social services, and grassroots initiatives. By fostering collaboration across borders and disciplines, the conference has the potential to accelerate the adoption of resiliency-focused practices, ultimately contributing to healthier, more adaptable communities. The 20th anniversary celebration not only honors past achievements but also sets the stage for the next era of trauma-informed care.
