TRATON GROUP announced on October 28, 2025, the launch of its first group-wide Green Finance Framework, designed to finance and refinance battery-electric commercial vehicles (BEVs) across the entire value chain. The framework aims to attract capital providers to support the commercial vehicle industry's shift toward sustainability and electrification.
The framework, which received an independent Second Party Opinion from S&P Global Ratings, was assessed as "Dark Green," the highest possible rating. This assessment underscores the framework's alignment with international standards and its focus on exclusively funding BEV-related eligible green projects.
Christian Levin, CEO of the TRATON GROUP, emphasized the company's commitment to transforming commercial transport through sustainable innovation. "With our Green Finance Framework, we align our financing strategy with global climate goals and offer investors a transparent, forward-looking platform to support the transition to battery-electric mobility," Levin said.
The Green Finance Framework enables a broad range of green financing instruments, including Green Bonds, Loans, Schuldscheine, and Asset-Backed Securities. It complies with the latest international standards set by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), specifically under the "Clean Transportation" category. Within this category, TRATON defined four sub-categories: Research & Development, Manufacturing, Financial Services, and Charging Infrastructure for battery-electric commercial vehicles.
To ensure proper governance, a Green Finance Committee, integrated into TRATON's existing structure, will evaluate, select, and monitor eligible investments. The company will provide annual reports on the use of proceeds and their impact, maintaining transparency for investors.
This initiative marks a significant step in aligning financing with environmental goals, offering capital providers a clear pathway to participate in the electrification of commercial transport. For more details about TRATON's sustainability efforts, visit www.traton.com/en/sustainability.
