Total Wireless, a prepaid wireless provider under the Verizon Value portfolio, has announced an expanded partnership with Western Union, bringing a suite of financial services to its retail locations nationwide. The services, which include money transfers, bill pay, and money orders, will be available at select stores starting today and will expand to additional locations through the end of 2026. This move aims to provide communities with greater access to essential financial tools, positioning Total Wireless stores as more than just places to purchase mobile plans.
The expansion builds on Total Wireless's June launch as the first U.S. wireless carrier to offer monthly money transfers at no additional cost to eligible customers. Under the expanded partnership, customers on MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans will continue to receive one fee-free Western Union money transfer each month, redeemable through Western Union's website, mobile app, or participating Total Wireless stores. This benefit underscores the brand's commitment to delivering meaningful value beyond connectivity.
David Kim, President of Verizon Value, emphasized the community-centric nature of the initiative: "Our stores are gathering places in the communities we serve," he said. "By adding Western Union to the retail experience, we're expanding access to everyday financial services for everyone. Whether customers need to send money, pay bills, or purchase money orders, they can now do it at Total Wireless, right alongside getting the reliable 5G connectivity they count on. That's what it means to put community first."
The services are available to all customers at standard Western Union rates, with the fee-free transfer benefit reserved for eligible plan holders. Western Union's global network, spanning more than 200 countries and territories and over 360,000 payout locations, ensures that customers can send money internationally with speed and confidence. Jesse Mory, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Western Union, noted, "Millions of customers rely on Western Union to move money across borders with speed and confidence. By bringing our services to Total Wireless stores, we're meeting more customers where they already shop and expanding access to reliable, convenient financial services."
This partnership highlights a growing trend of non-traditional retailers integrating financial services into their offerings, reflecting the increasing demand for accessible and affordable financial tools. For Total Wireless, which operates 2,000 exclusive stores across the country, the move strengthens its position as a community-focused brand. The company's Total Spark program, which provides grants to local nonprofits supporting working students, further illustrates its dedication to community empowerment.
As the rollout progresses through the end of 2026, more customers will gain access to these essential services at their local Total Wireless stores. For more information, visit a local store or Total Wireless's Western Union page.
