Brodsky and Avery Hall's 499 President has announced three additional retail tenants for its Gowanus development, further solidifying the project's role as a community anchor. Union Market, Corto, and Spear Physical Therapy will join previously announced Paulie Gee's and Royal Palms Shuffleboard, completing 40,000 square feet of curated commercial space at the luxury rental community located at 499 President Street.
Union Market will open a 10,000-square-foot flagship grocery store at 532-542 Union Street, adjacent to 499 President. The market, known for high-quality groceries, fresh produce, and a curated selection of local and organic goods, aims to serve both new residents and longtime locals. "Gowanus is welcoming thousands of new residents who need an amazing neighborhood grocer. Bringing Union Market to the area just makes sense," said Martin Nunez, Co-owner of Union Market. The space was represented by Mark Tergesen of ABS Partners Real Estate.
Corto, a restaurant and café known for its Italian hospitality and ingredient-driven menu, will occupy a 1,000-square-foot space along Nevins Street. Owner and Chef Cristiano Morroi expressed enthusiasm: "We're thrilled to bring our passion for authentic Italian flavors to 499 President and the broader Gowanus community." Spear Physical Therapy, New York's leading rehabilitation services provider, will operate a 2,500-square-foot clinic adjacent to Corto, offering individualized physical and occupational therapy. These additions complement Royal Palms Shuffleboard, a neighborhood staple at 514 Union Street, and Paulie Gee's, which plans to open its new restaurant at 499 President this fall.
