The Arc Baltimore’s Fund the Mission Campaign Nears Goal

The Arc Baltimore’s Fund the Mission campaign, “From the Foundation to the Future,” is nearing its goal of raising $75,000. The campaign honors The Arc’s 75-year history and will support vital services for people with developmental disabilities.

For more than 75 years, The Arc Baltimore has advocated for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting inclusion and opportunity. The organization began when four sets of parents envisioned a community embracing their children, and it has since grown to help children and adults pursue dreams such as college, a career, or independent living.

Kathleen McNally Durkin, The Arc Baltimore’s Chief Executive Officer, said the grassroots movement that started in 1950 has become a powerful force for change. “Today’s children are growing up in a world where inclusion is the expectation, not the exception,” Durkin said. “Still, our work is not finished. We must ensure every child, adult, and family continues to have the support and opportunities they need not just to survive, but to thrive.”

Donations to the campaign fill gaps not covered by public funding. They support essential programs such as employment training, day and residential services, family support, treatment foster care, assistive technology, respite care, and advocacy.
