The Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth (JASDFW) has announced that Texas Governor Greg Abbott will be honored with the Sun & Star Legacy Award at its 28th annual dinner on April 15, 2026, at the Irving Convention Center. The award recognizes Governor Abbott's exceptional leadership in advancing economic, cultural, and diplomatic relations between Japan and Texas.
Under Governor Abbott's tenure, Texas has become one of Japan's most significant partners in the United States for trade, innovation, and investment. His administration has established strategic agreements with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Aichi Prefecture, home to Toyota's global headquarters. Today, hundreds of Japanese-owned businesses operate in Texas, making the state a cornerstone of U.S.-Japan collaboration.
