TES (SZSE: 003019.SZ), a leading provider of touch display solutions, has officially inaugurated and put into operation Phase I of its manufacturing base in Rayong Province, Thailand. The ceremony, attended by Chairman Kevin Lee, local government officials, and supply chain partners, marks a significant expansion of the company's manufacturing footprint in Southeast Asia and signals a new stage in its global strategic layout. With an initial investment of US$24 million, the Rayong plant is a cornerstone of TES's "Dual-Core Smart Manufacturing" strategy, which aims to provide enhanced supply chain resilience and flexible delivery capabilities to global customers.
The strategic importance of this announcement lies in its potential to reshape how TES serves its global OEM and ODM partners. By establishing a second manufacturing hub in Thailand alongside its existing operations in China, TES is directly addressing the trade risks and supply chain vulnerabilities that have become increasingly prevalent in recent years. Chairman Kevin Lee emphasized that the Rayong plant will produce interactive smart displays, interactive all-in-one PCs, and smart automotive displays, generating tens of millions of US dollars in production value for the local economy. More importantly, he noted that the dual manufacturing bases will help global customers mitigate trade risks, capture market opportunities, and achieve long-term, mutually beneficial prosperity.
The Rayong plant, situated in the WHA Industrial Estate, covers a total land area of 42,399 m² with a building area of 26,630 m², making it TES's largest single manufacturing base in Southeast Asia to date. The company plans to systematically migrate and integrate its Chonburi and Rayong operations in phases. Phase I includes completed production facilities, administrative offices, and employee living support facilities, with a current workforce of approximately 300 employees. The plant's monthly planned capacity is substantial: 65,000 units of 7–55" touch monitors and all-in-one PCs, 300,000 SMT-related products, 120,000 sets of automotive touch display modules, 120,000 units of automotive optical bonding products, and 30,000 units from automotive assembly lines. Future plans include adding an additional assembly line and two bonding lines to meet the stable delivery requirements of medium-to-large batch OEM and ODM orders.
The location of the Rayong plant offers significant logistical advantages. Situated in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), it is approximately 1.5 hours (113 km) from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport and 1 hour (70 km) from Laem Chabang Deep Sea Port, greatly enhancing international trade and logistics efficiency. The plant has also received Investment Promotion Privileges (BOI) certification from the Thai government, ensuring operational stability and policy support. These factors, combined with the ability to offer flexible country-of-origin options, allow TES to assist clients in adapting to changing global trade environments, optimizing tariff structures, and mitigating single-region trade risks. Through cross-regional multi-base synergy, TES establishes a capacity redundancy framework to buffer against regional supply chain fluctuations and guarantee order delivery stability.
The commissioning of the Rayong plant represents a key milestone in TES's globalization journey. By continuously optimizing its global manufacturing footprint and upholding its corporate mission of "Combining Humanity and Technology to Serve the World," TES aims to deliver enhanced capacity, superior service, and highly competitive cost structures to its global clients.
