Stabilus SE Integrates Industrial Automation Portfolio to Target €3 Billion Robotics Market

Stabilus SE (WKN: STAB1L, ISIN: DE000STAB1L8), a leading supplier of motion control solutions, is expanding its industrial automation business and strengthening its position in the robotics market by consolidating its expert brands under the umbrella of Stabilus4Automation. The group, which includes brands such as ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern, aims to offer integrated solutions for automated production processes, including end-of-arm tooling and robotic applications.

The global addressable market for end-of-arm tooling, gripping systems, and robotic tooling solutions is approximately €3 billion and is expected to grow at a double-digit rate, according to recent market studies. This potential underscores the strategic relevance for Stabilus, which under its long-term strategy aims to generate around €500 million in revenue from new, high-margin innovation products. The company expects its Automation segment, including robotics, to make a significant contribution to this target.

“Industrial automation is an important growth area for Stabilus,” said CEO Dr. Michael Buchsner. “With Stabilus4Automation, we are leveraging synergies within the group to further develop our technology portfolio in a targeted manner and offer integrated solutions for demanding automation applications, which also explicitly includes solutions in robotics.”

Stabilus plans to gradually implement selected automation solutions in its own production plants to optimize manufacturing processes and leverage efficiency potential. The company views industrial robotics as an attractive field of development, with existing products increasingly deployed in highly dynamic, automated handling and manufacturing processes. Components for controlled movement, damping, and vibration reduction are particularly in demand, and Stabilus is also exploring the research domain of humanoid robots.

“We view industrial automation as an integrated system of the required movements – from the gripper and vibration isolation to drive solution,” said Jurgen Roland, Head of the business unit Industrial Components. “In the field of cobots and robots with small payloads, we already offer powerful end-of-arm tools and advanced solutions. We are already working with more than 100 partners worldwide in the field of robotics.”

An example of the group-wide approach is a handling solution developed jointly by Destaco and ACE, combining automation expertise and damping technology into a powerful end-of-arm tool. By integrating ACE’s MC series miniature shock absorbers, the handling of packages of varying sizes and weights is enhanced, improving protection of equipment and goods, and overall efficiency.

Driven by trends such as skilled labor shortages, increasing quality requirements, and the need for more efficient manufacturing processes, industrial automation and robotics are gaining importance. For Stabilus, this presents growth prospects in industrial end markets with long-term investment logic. The company’s integrated solutions focus on modular, scalable offerings that can be flexibly integrated into existing production lines.
