SS Innovations International (NASDAQ: SSII) announced that its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console were used in successful telesurgeries during two international medical conferences in October 2026, marking a significant step toward making specialized surgical care accessible regardless of geographic distance.
At the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Annual Meeting in Barcelona, Spain, Chairman and CEO Dr. Sudhir Srivastava performed a robotic-assisted cardiac procedure remotely on a patient in Bengaluru, India, approximately 7,500 miles away. The demonstration underscored the SSi MantrAsana console's ability to enable real-time remote surgery through ultra-low latency connectivity, high-definition visualization and precise instrument control. Separately, at the Society of Robotic Surgery India Conference in New Delhi, four surgeons completed four robotic-assisted telesurgeries covering kidney, colorectal, pediatric urological and gynecological procedures.
The implications of these demonstrations are substantial. By enabling surgeons to operate across vast distances, the technology could help address shortages of specialized surgical expertise in underserved regions, reduce the need for patient travel and potentially lower costs associated with complex procedures. As of Oct. 23, 2026, a total of 205 telesurgeries, including complex cardiac procedures, had been performed using the SSi Mantra system, according to the company. That growing case volume suggests the platform is moving beyond proof-of-concept toward broader clinical adoption.
SS Innovations, headquartered in India and structured as a U.S. company, aims to make robotic surgery affordable and accessible to a larger segment of the global population. Its product range includes the SSi Mantra system and the SSi Mudra suite of surgical instruments, which support a variety of procedures including cardiac surgery. The SSi Mantra is a modular, multi-arm system with 3 to 5 robotic arms, an open-faced ergonomic surgeon command center, a large 3D 4K monitor and the ability to superimpose 3D models of diagnostic imaging. The optional SSi MantrAsana console is a portable, compact alternative to the standard command center, intended to provide equivalent control functionality while adding telesurgery capability.
The company notes that the SSi Mantra has been clinically validated in India in more than 190 different types of surgical procedures and utilizes over 40 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments, including 5mm instruments for pediatric and ENT surgeries.
