SS Innovations Appoints Veteran MedTech CFO Sarah M. Romano as Global Robotic Surgery Expansion Accelerates

SS Innovations International (NASDAQ: SSII), a developer of surgical robotic technologies, has appointed veteran medical technology finance executive Sarah M. Romano as chief financial officer, effective August 3, 2026. The appointment adds public-company financial and capital markets experience as the company accelerates global commercialization of its SSi Mantra robotic surgical platform and advances regulatory initiatives, including preparations for U.S. Food and Drug Administration review (https://nnw.fm/yY4UM).

Romano brings more than two decades of experience in public-company finance, capital markets, and medical technology, having raised more than $100 million during her career. She joins SS Innovations after serving as CFO at Vicarious Surgical, another developer of robotic surgical technologies, where she oversaw financial and operational initiatives designed to reduce cash burn and strengthen the company’s balance sheet. Her appointment signals a strategic focus on financial discipline as SS Innovations scales its operations.

The leadership change comes amid significant milestones for the company. SS Innovations recently graduated the inaugural class of its SS International Centre for Robotics Surgery (SSICRS) cardiac robotic surgery training program, which welcomed 33 healthcare professionals from seven countries. This program underscores the company’s emphasis on surgeon education alongside technology deployment, a critical factor for adoption of robotic systems in complex procedures.

As SS Innovations continues pursuing U.S. FDA clearance for its SSi Mantra system, the company is also expanding internationally, building on its presence in markets where regulatory approval has already been obtained. The SSi Mantra platform is designed to enable minimally invasive surgeries with enhanced precision, and the company is positioning itself to compete with established players in the surgical robotics market.

The appointment of Romano, combined with the training program’s success, reflects SS Innovations’ dual strategy of strengthening financial infrastructure and building a skilled user base. The company’s recent news and updates are available in its newsroom (https://ibn.fm/SSII).
