Gnocchi began his legal career at a Rockville law firm before serving as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted a broad range of cases. In 2004, he shifted to criminal defense, joining a boutique firm and later founding the Law Office of Paolo Gnocchi, LLC in 2009. As a solo practitioner, he represented clients in Maryland and the District of Columbia, trying and winning hundreds of cases from traffic offenses to rape and first-degree murder.

A magna cum laude graduate of Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, Gnocchi earned his Juris Doctor from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law.
