His background includes service as a Deputy Public Defender in Maricopa County, Arizona, where he handled hundreds of cases involving DUI, aggravated DUI, firearms, and drug offenses.
Since relocating to the Washington, D.C., area in 2008, Kalafat has represented clients in D.C. Superior Court and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. He has served as trial counsel in more than 100 trials, covering a wide range of criminal charges. Judges have frequently appointed him for serious felony cases under the D.C.
