As the autumn leaves begin to turn, Scarefest Scream Park in Lenox Township is preparing to mark a significant milestone: its 20th anniversary season. Since its founding in 2006, this family-owned 50-acre Halloween park has become a cornerstone of Michigan's fall entertainment, deeply rooted in Macomb County. The park not only provides seasonal thrills but also bolsters the local economy by employing hundreds of residents and supporting local charities.
This landmark season will feature the signature blend of fear and fun that has attracted visitors for two decades. Beyond the haunted attractions, guests can enjoy nightly stage entertainment, Halloween movies, roaming ghouls, photo ops, bonfires, and a heated bar tent. A virtual queue system ensures that guests can explore the park without the hassle of waiting in line, allowing their phones to hold their spot.
The park's offerings are built on four distinct attractions, each designed to cater to different levels of bravery. The Castle of the Dead is an 8,000-square-foot haunted house where visitors face terrors lurking just beyond the doors. For those seeking a more family-friendly experience, the Hayride of Doom is a narrated ride following a researcher and his AI assistant as they navigate the aftermath of a viral outbreak. The Forest of Darkness offers a haunted walk along the Salt River, where specters of death lurk among the trees. Finally, the Terror Zone Maze is a thrilling dark maze packed with twists, strobes, 3D effects, and terror at every dead end.
Before the official October season begins, Scarefest is hosting two exclusive special event weekends geared toward adults 21 and over. On September 18 and 19, from 7 PM to midnight, Ghouls Night Out will offer a unique twist on "girls night out," featuring a "Sip & Shop" local artisan vendor show with wine tastings, mixology demonstrations, crafts, and Zumba. The following weekend, September 25 and 26, BBQ, Bourbon & Boos will combine the crisp night air with the warmth of aged oak and hickory smoke. This event will feature a live band, local bourbon and whiskey tastings, and a selection of barbecue foods.
Located at 34111 28 Mile Rd in Lenox Township, Scarefest Scream Park has been recognized as the premier Halloween destination in Metro Detroit, winning "Best Haunted Attraction" from Vote4TheBest multiple times. As it enters its 20th year, the park continues to evolve while maintaining the community spirit that has made it a beloved tradition for families and thrill-seekers alike.
