Sandy's Furniture to Close After Nearly 50 Years with Major Retirement Auction

Sandy's Furniture, a fixture in British Columbia's furniture industry since 1976, has announced its Retirement Auction, signaling the end of an era for the family-owned retailer. The company will auction off more than $1 million in inventory through a three-day live online event hosted by Direct Auctions, offering consumers access to premium furniture at auction prices.

Founded in 1976, Sandy's Furniture built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and customer service, becoming one of the largest and most respected furniture retailers in the province. The auction, scheduled for February 7–9, 2026, will include floor models and new-in-box items from brands such as Decor-Rest, Sunday's, Stylus, Moe's Home Collection, Serta, Natuzzi Italia, and Kingsdown, among others.

"This retirement auction represents the closing of an incredible chapter," the Sandy's Furniture team said in a statement. "We're extremely proud of what we've built since 1976 and deeply grateful to our loyal customers. This auction allows our inventory to move into new homes as we step into retirement."

Jeff Schwarz, owner of Direct Auctions and star of the TV series The Liquidator, will manage the sale. "Sandy's Furniture is a true BC success story," Schwarz said. "They've been a major player in the furniture industry for decades, and it's an honor for us to manage their retirement auction. This sale gives buyers access to high-quality furniture from a retailer that's built its reputation on trust and longevity."

The auction will be conducted live online, enabling bidders from across British Columbia and beyond to participate in real time. A preview is scheduled for February 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST at two locations: 1335 United Blvd, Coquitlam, BC, and 1175 15th St W, North Vancouver, BC. Bidding begins daily at 10:00 AM PST.
