San Antonio Selected to Host Inaugural Texas Space Summit in 2026

San Antonio has been officially selected to host the inaugural Texas Space Summit in September 2026, marking a significant milestone for the city's expanding influence in science and technology innovation. The announcement was made by District 10 Councilmember Marc Whyte, who hailed the event as a landmark opportunity that underscores San Antonio's growing role in the commercial space sector.

Councilmember Whyte credited the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for successfully bringing the first-of-its-kind summit to the Alamo City, emphasizing the collective strength of the region's business community, education partners, and military presence. The Texas Space Summit is expected to draw leaders from across the commercial space sector, military commands, research institutions, private industry, and public-sector partners.

The Building Texas Show, a statewide platform dedicated to covering growth, innovation, and economic development across Texas, welcomed the announcement with enthusiasm. Justin McKenzie, host of The Building Texas Show, stated: "Texas continues to rise as a national leader in commercial space, aerospace research, workforce development, and applied technology. San Antonio's selection as the host city underscores the region's growing influence and adds another chapter to the future of the space economy in Texas."

San Antonio, the seventh-largest city in the United States, is recognized as one of the strongest fiscally managed municipalities in the country and continues to nurture entrepreneurship, encourage investment, and fund long-term infrastructure. The city fosters major growth opportunities in aerospace, bioscience, arts, green technologies, healthcare, and information technology. Its world-famous River Walk and The Alamo remain the top tourist attractions in Texas, and the city's historic missions are a designated World Heritage Site—the first and only in Texas.

Proudly called Military City, USA®, San Antonio is home to one of the nation's largest active-duty and veteran populations and hosts mission-critical commands across military medicine, cybersecurity, pilot training, and basic training. The Texas Space Summit represents an important milestone in Texas' rapidly expanding role in aerospace and space commercialization. As the state continues to lead in commercial space, aerospace research, workforce development, and applied technology, events like this summit will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the space economy.
