PhotonPay has closed a $40 million Series C funding round led by Blockchain Capital, with participation from new investor SBI Group and follow-on investments from IDG Capital, GL Ventures, and Lightspeed Faction. The investment, announced via Media OutReach Newswire, underscores growing confidence in the convergence of stablecoins and traditional fiat infrastructure for corporate finance. Blacksheep Technology served as exclusive financial advisor.
The capital will accelerate the expansion of PhotonPay's stablecoin-centric Financial Operating System (Financial OS), focusing on multi-asset wallet capabilities, global card issuing, local clearing infrastructure, and an agent-ready financial execution layer. As of August 2026, PhotonPay's annualized transaction volume reached US$65 billion, supported by 34 payment and financial licenses across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, serving over 200,000 business customers in more than 200 countries and territories.
PhotonPay's Financial OS integrates stablecoin liquidity with fiat balances, enabling businesses to convert assets, execute foreign exchange, and access local clearing through a single API-first workflow. The company's global network allows local collection accounts in 17 markets and payouts in over 60 currencies, with approximately 97% of transactions reaching recipients within hours. Global card issuing has also surged, with 4.4 million cards issued in the past 12 months, up 275% year-over-year.
The funding round's significance extends beyond capital. It validates PhotonPay's vision that the future of global finance lies not in choosing between stablecoins and fiat, but in their convergence. "Moving money across borders in seconds means little if it still takes days to put that capital to work," said Lewison Chen, Founder and CEO. "Stablecoins are accelerating global money movement, while local clearing and global card issuing connect that liquidity to local settlement and everyday business spending."
Moreover, the investment positions PhotonPay at the forefront of agentic commerce. As AI agents assume operational roles, financial infrastructure must evolve to support programmable, policy-governed execution. PhotonPay's planned support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and its policy-based execution framework aim to allow AI agents to securely initiate financial workflows within defined authorization boundaries, a development that could reshape how businesses automate treasury and payment operations.
