Dr. Sreenath Thati Ganganna, a pediatric neurologist and epileptologist at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, has been named a 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctor. This marks the third year he has received this honor, which is awarded annually to only 7 percent of licensed physicians nationwide based on peer nominations and rigorous selection criteria.

As a Clinical Associate Professor and Clinical Director of the Division of Neurology, Dr. Thati Ganganna provides specialized care to pediatric neurology patients across the region. His clinical interests focus on managing drug-resistant epilepsy, including presurgical evaluation and neurostimulation therapies such as Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS), Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS), and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), as well as ketogenic dietary therapies. He is deeply committed to helping children with intractable seizures and supporting their families in achieving the best possible quality of life.

The University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Hospital, offers extensive practice features including an on-site pediatric epilepsy monitoring unit, an EEG laboratory, and advanced neuroimaging suites. These facilities allow for seamless coordination between diagnostic testing and clinical consultation, with close collaboration alongside a highly specialized pediatric neurosurgery team.

Dr. Thati Ganganna's extensive education and training include a pediatric residency at the University College of Medical Sciences in Delhi, India, followed by a second pediatric residency at Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He completed a fellowship in child neurology at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, University Hospitals & Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Additionally, he completed two fellowships at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Michigan: one in epilepsy and a second in clinical neurophysiology with a focus on EEG. He holds board certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology, as well as in the subspecialty of Epilepsy.

Beyond his clinical duties, Dr. Thati Ganganna serves as the Director of the Epilepsy Fellowship program, where he leads the training of future specialists. His academic contributions include publications in journals such as Stroke, Epilepsy & Behavior Case Reports, Clinical Pediatrics, and the European Journal of Paediatric Neurology. He also serves as an Associate Editor for the Epilepsy section of the Journal of Child Neurology.
