The US Trademark Office has renewed Parent Coaching Institute’s registered trademark, Parent Coach Certification®, for another ten years. First granted in 2006 after an extensive investigative period, the trademark points to PCI’s exclusive parent coach training program. The mark signifies PCI as a global leader in the parent coaching industry, setting and maintaining high standards for parent coach certification.
“I am thrilled that we have been approved for renewal through 2035,” stated founder and CEO, Gloria DeGaetano. “Since there are no parent coach training professional organizations monitoring the industry, we take Parent Coach Certification® training seriously. Parents deserve the best. So, with candidates needing to meet specific qualifications, and with a thorough enrollment process, we ensure we certify high-level professionals who have a proven background and experience working in family support. In addition, PCI’s training provides not only coaching techniques based on cutting edge research, but also the opportunity to practice coaching with a nine-month practicum.”
Ms. DeGaetano was recently interviewed on the Business Growth Spotlight podcast where she shares how she built an international company around a concept the world had never heard of — and the mindset, passion, and evidence-based methodology that made PCI the global leader it is today. Using evidence-based strategies and a well-researched coaching framework, PCI Certified Parent Coaches® work with parents to help them create awareness of new possibilities. The strength-based framework and inquiry-based model PCI uses transforms parent-child relationships.
The Parent Coaching Institute is committed to growing a global community of like-minded professionals dedicated to supporting parents in these stressful and complex times. The PCI’s acclaimed distance-learning, graduate-level training program, offered in affiliation with Southern New Hampshire University, enrolls family support professionals through an application process. Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Spring Term, to begin late February 2026. Application deadline is February 1, 2026. For more information or to download an application form, please visit www.ThePCI.org.
The renewal of this trademark ensures that PCI remains the sole authorized provider of Parent Coach Certification®, reinforcing its position as the gold standard in the industry. This development matters because it provides clarity for consumers and professionals seeking credible parent coach training, and it protects the integrity of the certification process. As the parent coaching field grows, having a recognized and protected trademark helps maintain high standards and trust.
