The Parent Coaching Institute (PCI) has launched the Parent Success Initiative, a new resource designed to amplify parents' voices on technology issues. The initiative centers on Technology Success Stories, where parents share their experiences in audio interviews with PCI founder Gloria DeGaetano. Each story is accompanied by a brief summary on the website, aiming to provide practical, real-world solutions for families.
"What is more inspiring, telling and effective than parents themselves sharing what works for them?" asks DeGaetano. "Parents' voices are so important when it comes to technology issues. Every child is unique; every family has their individual routines and ways of empowering their kids with healthy technology use. There is so much to learn from one another."
The initiative features parents of children across all ages and stages. For example, Reem shares her journey of realizing that using screens to occupy her 3-year-old was contributing to behavioral issues. Through observation and parental instincts, she discovered effective alternatives. "It's so much easier to do than you would ever expect. And I swear it's magic," she says. The institute supports these stories with relevant research, such as sobering data linking over four hours of daily screen time for babies and toddlers to increased risk of autistic symptoms.
Upcoming interviews include parents of teens and PCI Certified Parent Coach Tierney Boggs, author of a children's book and a book for parents. Boggs will discuss how she and her husband adjust screen time rules as their three children grow, reflecting on their values. DeGaetano emphasizes the value of parent-led insights: "Parents have so much wisdom and creativity... You can be sure when a busy working parent finds something that works to reduce screen time or discuss potential social media contentious issues with a teen, other parents sit up and notice."
The PCI, known for its innovative family support, offers a year-long online Parent Coach Certification program in affiliation with Southern New Hampshire University. Applications for the 2026 Spring Term are being accepted until February 1, with the program starting in late February. For more information, visit www.ThePCI.org.
