Oncotelic's AI Platform Identifies Four-Gene Signature in Liver Cancer, Published in Biomedicines

Oncotelic Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCQB: OTLC) has announced the publication of a peer-reviewed study in the journal Biomedicines that demonstrates how its artificial intelligence-powered PDAOAI platform helped identify a four-gene prognostic signature in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer. The study, published Oct. 23, 2026, used Partitioned Literature Aggregation (PLA), Oncotelic’s patented algorithm running on PDAOAI, alongside gene-expression and survival analyses to pinpoint four genes: FKBP1A, EIF4E, RRAGC and PPARGC1A. The signature’s association with patient survival was independently validated in a Japanese HCC cohort of 203 patients, according to the announcement.

The findings matter because they support patient stratification for clinical trials of Sapu003, an intravenous formulation of everolimus that Oncotelic is developing. If the four-gene signature can reliably identify patients more likely to respond or survive, it could make those trials more efficient and increase the probability of success. More broadly, the study offers a proof point for Oncotelic’s strategy of using partitioned AI investigations to uncover testable biological hypotheses and accelerate drug discovery. Oncotelic Chief Business Officer Saran Saund presented the research approach during an Oct. 22 keynote at the 22nd Drug Discovery Strategic Summit in California, highlighting the company’s interest in positioning PDAOAI as a discovery engine rather than a single-purpose tool. For a micro-cap oncology company, peer-reviewed validation of an in-house AI platform can bolster credibility with partners, regulators and investors.

Oncotelic plans to expand PDAOAI toward a target scale of approximately 100 billion biological vectors for genetic and protein research. That ambition suggests the company intends to apply the platform across a wider range of cancers and therapeutic areas, potentially creating multiple shots on goal beyond Sapu003. Through its BIO REBOOT initiative, the company also invites researchers and development teams to submit projects for potential funding and support in validation, formulation, regulatory planning and clinical development, subject to scientific review and available resources. Such an initiative could help Oncotelic build a pipeline around its AI capabilities without bearing all discovery costs internally.

As a company focused on oncology and immunotherapy products for cancers with substantial unmet needs and rare pediatric indications, Oncotelic operates in a space where translational research is closely watched.
