Omineca Mining and Metals Ltd. (TSXV: OMM) has regained full control of its flagship Wingdam Paleoplacer project after the Licensed Insolvency Trustee, MNP Ltd., disclaimed/quit claimed D&L Mining Corp.'s interest in the underground project. The disclaimer follows the declared, voluntary bankruptcy of D&L Mining Corp., as announced on October 9, 2026, according to a company press release.
The announcement matters because it eliminates a third-party interest that had clouded the path forward for Omineca's most important asset. With the trustee's disclaimer, Omineca has moved quickly to secure management of the mine site and provide continuity of operations. The company has engaged PSI Mining of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to assume temporary operating responsibility for the Wingdam placer project.
For Omineca, the outcome simplifies the corporate structure around Wingdam and restores decision-making authority to management. According to the release, the significant outcome returns full control of the Wingdam Paleoplacer project to Omineca, allowing management to complete an agreement directly with a development partner prepared to advance the project without delay. That direct path is a key implication: the company can now negotiate with potential partners without needing to account for D&L's interest or obtain consents that would otherwise have been required.
Wingdam is located along the Barkerville Highway, 45 km east of Quesnel, British Columbia. The property includes mineral tenures totaling 61,392 hectares (613 square kilometers) and in excess of 15 linear kilometers of placer claims, both encompassing the Lightning Creek valley. Topographic conditions there created thick layers of overburden that preserved a large portion of a buried paleochannel containing placer gold-bearing gravels. Omineca also has a program exploring for the potential multiple hard rock sources of the placer gold at Wingdam.
The company's Fraser Canyon project, part of its original acquisitions in the Cariboo Mining District, is located 12 kilometers northwest of Quesnel and is now slated to reinitiate development of the underground paleochannel for placer gold recovery. Historically, two mines north and south of the Fraser River collectively produced 1,482 oz of raw placer gold.
The news was distributed through NEWMEDIAWIRE. For Omineca, the immediate priority is to maintain site continuity through PSI Mining while management pursues a development partner for Wingdam. The release notes that forward-looking statements involve known and unknown risks and uncertainties, and that the TSX Venture Exchange and its Regulation Services Provider accept no responsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of the release.
