HAMBURG, GERMANY – The Nordex Group has secured contracts to supply and install twelve wind turbines for the EFG Energy Farming Group, powering several citizen wind projects in Lower Saxony, Germany. The projects, named “Erlte-Endel” in the district of Vechta and the “Bad Essen” cluster in the district of Osnabrück, will have a combined capacity of around 82 MW. Each contract includes a 20-year Premium Service agreement, ensuring long-term operational support.
For the “Erlte-Endel” wind farm, Nordex will deliver five N175/6.X turbines mounted on hybrid towers with a hub height of 179 meters. The “Bad Essen” cluster will feature seven turbines: five N175/6.X units on 179-meter towers and two N163/6.X turbines with a hub height of 164 meters. This cluster comprises four separate wind energy projects: Langewiesen-Nord, Langewiesen-Süd, Rabber Wiesen, and the Wimmerbruch repowering project. These developments highlight a trend toward repowering existing sites to boost efficiency and capacity.
Construction is slated to begin at the end of 2026, with turbine installation planned for 2027 and commissioning expected in spring 2028. The projects are being developed by the EFG Energy Farming Group, which collaborates closely with local landowners and regional citizen wind companies, ensuring that the benefits of wind energy remain within the community.

The order reflects a broader movement in Germany toward decentralized, community-owned renewable energy projects. For Nordex, this deal reinforces its position in the German market, where it has a strong installed base. The company has commissioned over 64 GW of wind power capacity in more than 40 markets since 1985 and reported consolidated sales of approximately EUR 7.6 billion in 2025. Its product portfolio focuses on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes, designed for markets with limited space and constrained grid capacity.
The projects in Lower Saxony are part of Germany's ambitious renewable energy targets, aiming to increase the share of wind power in the national energy mix. By 2030, Germany plans to have 115 GW of onshore wind capacity, and projects like these are crucial to achieving that goal. The use of high-efficiency turbines with large hub heights allows for more consistent wind capture, even in areas with lower average wind speeds, making the projects viable and cost-effective.
Beyond the immediate environmental benefits, these wind farms are expected to generate local economic value through job creation during construction and long-term operational roles. The involvement of citizen energy companies ensures that profits stay within the region, supporting local economies and fostering public support for renewable energy.
