The Nordex Group has been awarded a contract by Swedish renewable energy developer OX2 for the supply and installation of 11 N175/6.X turbines for the Urleasca wind farm in Romania. With a total capacity of 77 MW, the project also includes a 35-year Premium Service agreement, marking a significant step in the company's expansion in the Romanian market.
In a parallel development, OX2 has sold the ready-to-build Urleasca wind farm to Norwegian renewable energy provider Scatec ASA. OX2 will oversee the construction phase, which is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning expected in the second half of 2028. The wind farm has secured a long-term Contract-for-Difference (CfD) with the Romanian State, providing revenue stability and underscoring the country's commitment to renewable energy.
The project will be located near the village of Urleasca in Brăila County, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Bucharest. This region is known for its favorable wind conditions, making it an ideal site for wind energy generation.

The Urleasca project further cements the Nordex Group's position in Romania, where the company has contracted more than 500 MW in the last months. This order is part of a broader trend of increasing wind energy investments in Southeastern Europe, driven by supportive government policies and the need for energy diversification.
The N175/6.X turbine is one of Nordex's latest models, designed to maximize efficiency in low and medium wind speed sites. Its deployment in Romania will contribute to the country's renewable energy targets and help reduce carbon emissions.
The deal also highlights the growing collaboration between European renewable energy companies. OX2, a leading developer with a portfolio of about 33 GW across onshore and offshore wind, solar, and storage, has been actively expanding its presence in Eastern Europe. Scatec, the buyer of the wind farm, is a major player in renewable energy solutions, further validating the project's potential.
For Nordex, this order adds to its robust global pipeline. The company has installed more than 64 GW of wind power capacity in over 40 markets since 1985 and continues to innovate in turbine technology. The Romanian market, with its ambitious renewable energy goals, presents significant opportunities for the company.
The construction and operation of the Urleasca wind farm will also bring economic benefits to the local region, including job creation and infrastructure development. The CfD ensures a stable revenue stream, making the project attractive to investors and financiers.
