Nicola Mining Inc. (NASDAQ: NICM) (TSX.V: NIM) (FSE: HLIA) and Ocean Partners UK Limited have each committed $5 million, totaling $10 million, in a financing round for Blue Lagoon Resources (CSE: BLLG). The funds are earmarked to support the continued development and production ramp-up of Blue Lagoon's wholly-owned Dome Mountain Gold and Silver Project near Smithers, British Columbia, with a target production rate of 150 to 200 tonnes per day.
Nicola completed its investment through a private placement at $0.60 per share, acquiring 8,333,333 common shares. This builds on Nicola's previous $1 million investment in Blue Lagoon in January 2024, while Ocean Partners has now committed a total of $8 million to the company. The financing underscores the strategic relationship among mine development, concentrate marketing, and milling infrastructure, with Nicola's wholly-owned Merritt Mill expected to play an increasingly important role as Blue Lagoon advances production.
The investment aligns with Nicola's broader strategy of leveraging its fully permitted mill, which can process both gold and silver feed via gravity and flotation processes. The mill, located near Merritt, British Columbia, is a key asset that can support multiple projects. Nicola also holds a 100% interest in the New Craigmont Project, a high-grade copper property covering 10,913 hectares adjacent to Highland Valley Copper, Canada's largest copper mine, and the Treasure Mountain Property, which includes 30 mineral claims and a mineral lease spanning over 2,200 hectares.
This financing not only provides Blue Lagoon with the capital needed to accelerate its production goals but also strengthens the partnership between the companies, potentially leading to more efficient operations and cost savings. For Nicola, the investment deepens its involvement in the mining sector and could generate additional revenue through milling services and concentrate marketing. For Ocean Partners, it continues its support of Blue Lagoon, aligning with its focus on mining investments.
The announcement comes as the mining industry sees renewed interest in precious metals, with gold and silver prices remaining strong. The Dome Mountain project is expected to contribute to the supply of these metals, and the financing will help bring it closer to commercial production. The collaboration between Nicola, Ocean Partners, and Blue Lagoon exemplifies the kind of strategic partnerships that can drive growth and operational efficiency in the junior mining sector.
