Nancy Brown, chief executive officer of the American Heart Association, has been named to The NonProfit Times 29th annual Power and Influence Top 50 list, marking the 11th time she has received this recognition. The list honors leaders who have distinguished themselves as initiators and innovators in the nonprofit sector.
Brown’s tenure with the Association began in 1986 in Michigan, and in July 2026, the organization celebrates her 40 years of service. She became CEO in 2008 and has since been credited with expanding the Association’s global influence in cardiovascular and brain health, accelerating scientific discovery, and launching initiatives such as Go Red for Women and Nation of Lifesavers. Under her leadership, the American Heart Association has become the largest non-governmental funder of cardiovascular research in the United States.
