Minivela Acquires Major Stake in Red Minds Films to Form a Leading Microdrama Ecosystem

Minivela, the bilingual U.S. Latino and Latin American microdrama media company, has acquired a major ownership stake in Red Minds Films, a prolific producer of viral Spanish-language microdramas. The deal, announced via NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE, brings together Red Minds Films' 38 million social media followers, a library of approximately 1,800 microdramas, and a high-volume production infrastructure with Minivela's expanding U.S. Hispanic and Latin America distribution, advertising, and branded entertainment ecosystem.

The strategic importance of this acquisition lies in its scale and reach. Red Minds Films' entertainment ecosystem generates approximately 185 million monthly video views across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Combined with Minivela's affiliated network of more than 2,000 publishers and connected television distribution, the merged entity is positioned as one of the Americas' most influential independent microdrama media ecosystems. This scale is critical as brands seek authentic, viral engagement with Latino audiences, particularly Gen Z and Millennials. As Manny Ruiz, CEO of Minivela, stated, “Brands need scale, reach, and viral engagement for microdramas to engage Latino audiences – particularly Gen Z, and Millennials – and that’s what we can deliver now better than ever and far more than anyone else by wide margins.”

The acquisition also bridges Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets. Approximately 10% of Red Minds Films' followers, or 3.8 million, are based in the United States, providing a powerful bridge between the two regions. This cross-border reach is further enhanced by Minivela's production footprint, which now includes South America alongside Mexico City, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York. The deal includes co-owned original intellectual property, content licensing, exclusive worldwide resale rights to the Red Minds Films library, and adaptations for new audiences, including English and Portuguese versions.

Red Minds Films, founded in 2019 by media entrepreneurs Juan Altamirano and Jordan Soria, has been producing original Spanish-language microdramas since before the format became one of entertainment's fastest-growing categories. Its crown jewel property, Juancho Virales, alone has approximately 24 million followers on Facebook. Carlos Ponce, Minivela co-founder and senior partner, noted, “What Juan and Jordan have built is extraordinary and demonstrates that authentic storytelling resonates when you know how to engage young audiences, create great grassroots content, and develop beloved characters.” He added that home-grown talent and content creators are frequently more popular and engaging than content featuring traditional TV stars.

The partnership is already active through Red Minds Films' work producing original content for Pure Flix Familia, the Spanish-language faith-and-family streaming service launched by Great American Pure Flix in partnership with Minivela. The companies are expanding into Spanish-language YouTube shows, films, original microdramas, reality and unscripted programs, and bilingual productions. This diversification signals a broader strategy to monetize microdrama IP across multiple formats and platforms, moving beyond short-form video into longer-form entertainment and brand partnerships.

Miami will serve as the strategic center for U.S. Hispanic and Latin American expansion, with Los Angeles and New York supporting production, creative, and commercial development. The acquisition underscores the growing economic power of microdramas as a format and the importance of culturally relevant, brand-friendly entertainment in reaching Latino audiences. By combining Red Minds Films' proven storytelling and massive audience engagement with Minivela's capabilities in premium storytelling, content-to-commerce productions, advertising technology, and cross-border distribution, the deal positions the combined company to lead in a rapidly evolving market.
