Meyer Wilson Werning Launches Cryptocurrency Fraud Awareness Scholarship to Combat Growing Scams

Meyer Wilson Werning, a law firm specializing in financial fraud recovery, has announced the Meyer Wilson Werning Cryptocurrency Fraud Awareness Scholarship, offering $2,500 to a student who submits an essay proposing real-world solutions to combat cryptocurrency investment fraud. The scholarship aims to address the increasing prevalence of cryptocurrency scams, which the firm says have become a significant portion of its caseload.

Eligible students from accredited U.S. colleges, universities, or graduate schools must write a 500- to 1,000-word essay that includes at least three actionable strategies to reduce fraud, one personal action they could take to protect their families or communities, and an explanation of why their proposed solutions would succeed. Applications are open until September 15, 2026, and must be submitted via the firm's scholarship page along with proof of enrollment and unofficial transcripts.

Courtney M. Werning, Esq., a partner at Meyer Wilson Werning, emphasized the urgency of the issue. "We're raising awareness of that fact while simultaneously warning the American public, through the college-aged applicants, of how bad this is. People should be checking in on their parents and grandparents right now," she said. The firm's cryptocurrency hacking and theft lawyers have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of these scams, which involve sophisticated online manipulation and fake investment platforms.

Meyer Wilson Werning's broader anti-fraud efforts include 11 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions last year and appearances in publications like USA Today to educate professionals and the public about financial fraud prevention. The firm, which has recovered more than $350 million for clients, expects cryptocurrency fraud to continue growing in 2026.

The scholarship not only supports students but also serves as a tool to raise public awareness. By engaging the next generation in problem-solving, Meyer Wilson Werning hopes to foster innovative approaches to protect individuals from fraud. The firm encourages students to apply and contribute to the fight against cryptocurrency scams.
