MelGeek, known for its design-centric peripherals, has announced the Horus Lightweight Esports Gaming Mouse, marking the company's entry into the gaming mouse category. The Horus, unveiled in late February 2026, applies the same design-first thinking that made MelGeek's keyboards stand out, particularly the Centauri flagship keyboard released in November 2025.
The Horus mouse draws inspiration from ancient Egyptian mythology, with subtle references to Horus and Bastet embedded in its structure. Its most distinctive design element is the pyramid-shaped 8K wireless receiver, which transforms a typically mundane dongle into an intentional design object. Weighing just 49 grams, the mouse achieves a 50:50 balance for precise control during gameplay.
"Horus is conceived as both a performance tool and a piece of desktop art," the company stated in its announcement. The mouse is a natural evolution for MelGeek, which previously introduced the world's first transparent mechanical keyboard, the MOJO. The Centauri keyboard, featuring an OLED display using Apple Watch panel technology, further solidified the brand's reputation for blending display hardware with gaming peripherals.
By entering the mouse market, MelGeek challenges the notion that gaming mice must prioritize specs over aesthetics. The Horus aims to prove that peripherals can be personal, expressive, and thoughtfully designed without compromising performance. The 8K wireless receiver ensures low-latency connectivity, while the lightweight construction appeals to esports players seeking swift movements.
The launch underscores a broader trend in the peripherals industry where design and personal expression are becoming as important as raw performance. MelGeek's approach suggests that the future of gaming gear may lie in objects that serve as desktop centerpieces rather than purely functional tools.
