The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) kicked off the 10th edition of the Knowledge Summit on November 20, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The event, held in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), brings together global leaders, ministers, and experts to share visions for creating sustainable knowledge economies under the theme 'Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities.'
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, inaugurated the summit, emphasizing collaboration and knowledge exchange. In his address, His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, highlighted that the summit has become a global platform over the past decade, reinforcing knowledge as a catalyst for human development.
H.E. Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of UNCTAD, noted the alignment of MBRF's commitment with the UAE's efforts to build a knowledge-based economy, stating that transforming visions into reality requires innovation and courage. H.E. Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari, UNDP Regional Director for Arab States, emphasized that knowledge is now a strategic asset defining a country's global position.
The opening ceremony also announced the results of the ninth edition of the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) 2025, with Switzerland ranking first, Singapore second, and Sweden third. The UAE led Arab countries, followed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The summit features panel discussions and workshops on knowledge markets, the knowledge economy, innovation, sustainability, and technology, among other topics.
