LION Smart Receives TOP 100 Seal for Outstanding Innovation

LION Smart, a company of the LION E-Mobility Group, has been awarded the TOP 100 Seal 2026, recognizing its outstanding innovative strength. The selection process, conducted by innovation researcher Professor Nikolaus Franke and his team, assesses companies across five categories: innovation-oriented top management, innovation climate, innovation processes and organisation, external orientation/open innovation, and innovation success. These categories are evaluated through more than 100 assessment criteria based on an online questionnaire completed by participating companies.

The TOP 100 competition, organized by compamedia, has been awarding the seal to mid-sized companies for exceptional innovation performance since 1993. Professor Franke, founder and chairman of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, leads the scientific direction. The mentor of TOP 100 is former Federal President Christian Wulff, who will personally congratulate the awardees at the German SME Summit on June 26 in Heidelberg.

LION Smart impressed the evaluators with its innovation-driven approach in the field of intelligent energy storage and battery solutions. The company develops modular, scalable storage systems for industrial, grid, and mobility applications. Dr. Joachim Damasky, Managing Partner of LION Smart, stated, "For us, innovation is not a one-off project, but a permanent part of our day-to-day work and our corporate culture." The award confirms that the company is setting the right course technologically, organizationally, and strategically.

Key to LION Smart's success is the close integration of research, development, and customer requirements. New solutions are developed with real-world applications and future market needs in mind. The company views the TOP 100 Seal as recognition of its achievements and an incentive to continue shaping the energy transition with innovative storage solutions.

The TOP 100 Seal is awarded in three size categories: up to 50 employees, 51 to 200 employees, and more than 200 employees. In the 33rd round of the competition, 356 mid-sized companies applied, with 282 receiving the seal. A maximum of 100 companies can be recognized in each size category. The top innovators will gather on June 26 at the Heidelberg Congress Center for the German SME Summit.
