Laurion Mineral Exploration Inc. (TSX-V: LME | OTC: LMEFF | FSE: 5YD) has reported assay results from six drill holes completed under its 2026 Phase 1 diamond drilling program at the 100%-owned Ishkōday Gold and Polymetallic Project in Northwestern Ontario. The results, released through NEWMEDIAWIRE, include high-grade gold intersections that underscore the project's polymetallic character and support the company's systematic approach to defining a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).
The most notable interval came from hole LBX26-117, which returned 1.80 metres grading 17.10 g/t gold, including 0.80 metres at 31.50 g/t gold. The same hole also intersected a broader 10.05-metre interval averaging 1.112 g/t gold, 2.12 g/t silver and 0.51% zinc, with a higher-grade sub-interval of 1.85 metres at 4.107 g/t gold, 8.23 g/t silver, 0.23% copper and 2.19% zinc. Hole LBX26-121, drilled from the same collar at a shallower angle, cut 5.20 metres grading 1.067 g/t gold, 7.87 g/t silver and 1.11% zinc, including 1.05 metres at 3.467 g/t gold, 18.93 g/t silver and 3.60% zinc. Hole LBX26-116 returned 2.80 metres grading 2.261 g/t gold, 8.06 g/t silver, 0.15% copper and 0.10% zinc, plus a wider 20.05-metre zone averaging 0.411 g/t gold, 3.76 g/t silver and 0.61% zinc.
These results matter because they are being generated within a targeted framework. LAURION increased its planned Phase 1 drilling from 3,865 metres to 5,605 metres across 22 holes, informed by SRK Consulting's independent structural gap analysis of the A-Zone. That analysis identified five priority target areas where additional drilling may address gaps in the existing drill database and improve geological understanding of the A-Zone. The company is using this framework to prioritize near-term drilling with the objective of validating its geological interpretation and supporting evaluation of a potential maiden MRE. The six holes discussed in the release total 1,227 metres, and this figure is not the total 2026 program metreage.
The program also carries interpretive risk. Hole LBX26-113 was designed as a twin of historical hole 92-65 to verify previously reported high-grade mineralization, but the new assays returned lower grades than the historical results. LAURION said it will evaluate the implications for the historical drill database and its geological interpretation. Holes LBX26-114A and LBX26-115 were targeted infill holes designed to refine interpretations between earlier intersections. LBX26-114A replaced LBX26-114 after the latter was abandoned due to an orientation issue.
For investors, the significance lies in the dual signal: high-grade gold and polymetallic mineralization continue to be intersected, while the expanded, data-driven program is explicitly aimed at building the technical foundation for a resource estimate. The company's strategy emphasizes disciplined exploration, integrated geological modelling and responsible capital allocation.
