James Childers, MBA, MSML, has been named a 2026 Future of Field Service Stand Out 50 Leader, an international recognition that underscores the critical role of people-focused leadership in the rapidly evolving field service industry. The 2026 Stand Out 50 recipients were announced on September 24 during Future of Field Service Live in London. The annual recognition celebrates peer-nominated leaders who are making a meaningful impact through innovative approaches, authentic leadership, and exceptional execution of service strategies.
This recognition matters because it highlights the growing emphasis on leadership that balances operational excellence with human development. In an industry where technology and automation are transforming service delivery, Childers’ career demonstrates that sustainable success still depends on building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of ownership. His 22-year journey, spanning service operations, business development, organizational growth, and executive leadership, reflects a deep understanding that strategy must translate into execution—and that execution relies on people.
Following the announcement, Childers and the 2026 Stand Out 50 class were featured on the Nasdaq digital billboard in Times Square in New York City. For Childers, the honor is less about the spotlight and more about the collective effort behind it. “Twenty-two years ago, I had no idea where a career in service would take me,” Childers said. “Seeing my face in Times Square is something I never could have imagined. But what makes this recognition meaningful isn't the billboard. It's the people who helped build the road that led there — the technicians who taught me the business, the leaders who took chances on me, the customers who trusted us and the teams I've had the privilege to lead.”
Childers currently serves as Vice President of Service and Automation – California and Nevada at Intech Mechanical Company, Inc., where he holds executive responsibility for service operations across both markets. His career has included progressively broader leadership roles with responsibility for operations, growth, business performance, team development, and organizational strategy. His approach has been shaped by more than two decades in an industry where long-term success depends heavily on the people responsible for delivering service.
“Service has taught me that leadership is ultimately about responsibility,” Childers said. “You can have the right strategy and the right plan, but none of it matters if you can't build a team capable of executing it. Sustainable growth comes from developing good people, creating strong systems, setting clear expectations and building a culture where people take ownership of the outcome.”
Childers’ perspective challenges the notion that customer experience, employee development, operational discipline, and financial performance are competing priorities. Instead, he argues that successful service organizations must balance all four. “The longer I've been in this business, the more convinced I've become that great organizations aren't built around one person,” Childers said. “They're built by creating an environment where good people can do exceptional work. My name might be on the billboard, but there are a lot of fingerprints on it.”
A U.S. Navy veteran, Childers holds a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Management and Leadership, and a bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership. His recognition as a 2026 Stand Out 50 Leader not only celebrates his individual achievements but also signals the industry’s growing recognition that effective leadership—rooted in developing people and strengthening execution—is essential for navigating the future of field service.
