This marks the second such attack on a U.S. health care entity by Iranian state-sponsored actors, raising concerns about cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the sector.
The announcement comes as reports emerge of peace talks between the U.S. and Iran aimed at ending the conflict. However, threats and counterthreats between the two countries, including warnings that energy infrastructure could be targeted, underscore the need for heightened cyber vigilance. As hacking incidents could escalate, players in the U.S. health care system, such as Astiva Health, may need to bolster their defenses against potential cyberattacks.
The research, published by cybersecurity firm BioMedWire (BMW), did not name the targeted institution but emphasized the growing threat landscape.
