Inter Miami Football Club, home to global icon Lionel Messi, has added a four-person hyperbaric chamber from Oxygen Health Systems to enhance player recovery and wellness. The installation, announced Tuesday, underscores the team's commitment to advanced recovery protocols and highlights the increasing adoption of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in professional sports and beyond.
Oxygen Health Systems, an industry leader in ISO-certified hyperbaric oxygen chambers, has provided over 40 models for professional, clinical, and home use. Inter Miami joins a growing list of elite organizations using the technology, including the New York Yankees (since 2023), New York Giants (since 2022), Minnesota Twins (2024), and Pittsburgh Penguins (2021).
“Athletes simply demonstrate the efficacy of HBOT faster because their performance is tracked so closely,” said Shah Haq, Director of Engineering and Operations at Oxygen Health Systems. “The same benefits — faster recovery, reduced inflammation, better focus, and improved cellular health — apply to anyone seeking better wellness, energy, and longevity.”
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing concentrated oxygen in a pressurized environment, allowing oxygen to penetrate deeper into tissues and cells. The therapy supports healing, reduces oxidative stress, and optimizes performance for elite athletes, busy professionals, and individuals managing chronic conditions.
The popularity of HBOT continues to grow globally. Fortune recently highlighted how innovators like Bryan Johnson and LeBron James have incorporated HBOT into their personal wellness routines. According to Grand View Research, the global hyperbaric oxygen therapy market is projected to reach $4.9 billion by 2030, fueled by increasing awareness of its role in recovery, performance, and preventive health.
