Inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards Draws Record Crowd, Honoring Digital Storytellers

The inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards, held on August 27 at COYA Living, drew an over-capacity crowd, underscoring the growing influence of digital content creators on Las Vegas' Chinatown corridor. The private reception honored 20 photographers, videographers, food personalities, and digital storytellers whose work has significantly boosted the area's cultural and commercial appeal.

Hosted by ChinatownVegas.com and Chinatown Amplify, the event featured an emcee, writer and director Jason Harris. Honorees included notable Instagram and TikTok personalities such as @lasvegasfill, @brandonfromvegas, and @wheretogovegas, each receiving custom plaques in recognition of their contributions. Joe Muscaglione, founder of ChinatownVegas.com, emphasized that these creators have done more than just post about restaurants; they have helped the world see why the corridor attracts millions of visits annually.

The reception also served as a culinary showcase, with chefs from Sparrow + Wolf, Lamaii, Aroma Latin American Cocina, Shanghai Taste, and others presenting exclusive dishes. Notably, Sparrow + Wolf and Lamaii had received MICHELIN Guide recommendations the night before, as reported by Las Vegas Weekly. Chef Brian Howard of Sparrow + Wolf offered a wood-fired Isaan sausage, while Lamaii served crispy prawns. Chef Steve Kestler of Aroma created a Chinatown Ceviche, and Chef Jimmy Li of Shanghai Taste presented an abalone and sea cucumber meatball. Other participating restaurants included Double Zero Pie & Pub, China Mama, Mama's House × Durango Social Club, O.Onigiri, Noodlehead, Mochi!, Moignet Café, and Milk Bread.

The event also attracted notable guests, including rock photographer David Plastik and music publicist Mitch Schneider, who praised the event on Facebook as a "meaningful event" honoring creators "who've helped put Las Vegas Chinatown on the map." The collective participation of chefs and business owners highlighted the direct impact creators have on introducing local businesses to new audiences.

With approximately 23.9 million annual visits and 248 verified sit-down restaurants, Chinatown is a bustling hub. Muscaglione noted that these visits exceed those of many countries, and the creators have been instrumental in building that awareness. The awards were established to formally recognize independent voices who cover restaurant openings, cultural events, and neighborhood stories, turning individual businesses into destinations.

The event's success, marked by over-capacity attendance and broad community support, sets a strong foundation for future awards. ChinatownVegas.com is releasing a special edition of its weekly series, 'This Week in Chinatown,' featuring full coverage of the reception, including interviews and scenes from the evening.
