Hong Kong Electronics Fairs Draw 61,000 Buyers as AI and Robotics Demand Surges

The 46th Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 29th electronicAsia concluded with more than 61,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions, underscoring Hong Kong's enduring appeal as an international trading hub for innovative technology. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia, the four-day events featured over 3,200 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions, with buyers primarily from the Chinese Mainland, India, Japan and the United States, alongside growing attendance from Kazakhstan and Brazil. The fairs reinforced Hong Kong's position as a platform connecting global innovation with international markets, as detailed in the original release on www.newmediawire.com.

This year's Electronics Fair focused on AI & Robotics, Smart Wellness and NEXTEntertainment, while electronicAsia showcased components, display technologies and manufacturing services. Silas Chu, HKTDC Associate Executive Director, noted that the fairs generated strong sourcing momentum and facilitated numerous business deals. The newly introduced Future Industries Zone and GoGlobal Connect Zone were particularly well received, reflecting demand from Chinese Mainland enterprises seeking overseas expansion and Hong Kong's role as a bridge to global markets. Chu added that upcoming events such as the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) and Eco Expo Asia will further align with government policies to accelerate innovation and AI adoption.

An independent survey of over 1,150 buyers and exhibitors revealed that 96% expect sales to increase or remain stable over the next 12 to 24 months, with the most promising growth opportunities in ASEAN (83%), the Middle East (83%) and the Chinese Mainland (81%). AI is a key driver: 74% of companies are already applying or planning to apply generative AI, and nearly 60% see AI as the technology with the greatest impact over the next two years. The fairs organised 130 buying missions involving buyers from 65 countries, including Samsung Electronics and SSG.com from Korea, Brazil's Karimex and Mondial, and Argentina's Mercado Libre.

RoboPark and the Future Industries Zone spotlighted more than 120 robots across commercial, industrial, entertainment and healthcare applications. Leading Chinese Mainland robotics firms like UBTECH, AgiBot and DEEP Robotics showcased their latest advancements, while Booster Robotics, winner of the 2026 RoboCup World Championship, demonstrated its humanoid robot. Yang Liuyang, APAC Sales Director of Booster Robotics, said the company receives around 100 buyer visits daily and expects to appoint one to two distributors in Hong Kong this quarter. Hong Kong company Xeroptix Technology Limited presented AI brain technologies for robots and expects potential orders worth over US$1 million.

The fairs also supported start-ups and Chinese Mainland enterprises going global. The Startup Zone hosted over 120 young companies, including Hong Kong-based Fliq, which secured two strategic cooperation opportunities. The GoGlobal Connect Zone offered support on financing, intellectual property and compliance, with companies like Huahon Data Technology planning to establish a Hong Kong registered company. Global buyers actively sourced innovative products; Kenya's Pixel Electric plans to procure US$100,000 worth of smart metering solutions, while Brazil's Hayamax finalised a US$200,000 order and expects four new collaborations.

With over 100 events and 180 industry experts, the fairs facilitated knowledge exchange on AI, digital transformation and cross-border opportunities. The EXHIBITION+ hybrid format extended business matching online until 23 October. As Hong Kong's October exhibition season continues, the HKTDC will organise additional major events, including the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) and Eco Expo Asia, further solidifying the city's status as a global trade and innovation hub. The success of these fairs highlights the growing importance of AI and robotics in driving global trade and underscores Hong Kong's unique advantage in connecting the Chinese Mainland with international markets.
