HKTDC GreenBiz HK Campaign in Bangkok Targets Green Finance and Innovation Collaboration

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has launched the GreenBiz HK campaign in Bangkok, aiming to deepen collaboration between Hong Kong and Thailand in the green economy. The campaign, which includes a forum, networking events, and business matching, is part of the HKTDC's broader Economic and Trade Express (ETE) platform to help Hong Kong SMEs explore overseas markets. The GreenBiz HK Forum, held at the Grande Centre Point Lumphini Hotel, attracted over 550 representatives from government and business sectors across Thailand.

Dr Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, served as Guest of Honour and delivered opening remarks, emphasizing that the green transition requires strong partnerships across public and private sectors. Anna Cheung, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC, highlighted Hong Kong's status as a superconnector and super value-adder, with a thriving ecosystem for green innovation supported by policy, finance, R&D funding, and scalable solutions. The forum showcased Hong Kong's role as an international green finance and innovation hub, promoting exchange in green finance, green technology, supply chain, and sustainable smart city development.

A plenary session titled "Hong Kong-Thailand Partnerships for Sustainability and Innovation" featured key figures from both regions. Speakers including Ms Chaoni Huang (HSBC), Dr Kang Qu (Bank of China), Dr Kim Mak (ATAL Engineering Group), and Mr John Lo (Asia Carbon Institute) highlighted Hong Kong's strengths in green finance and innovative financing tools accelerating corporate ESG transformation. Mr Huang Weiwei from Charoen Pokphand Group shared Thailand's Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model and how Hong Kong's capital platforms can support Thai enterprises' overseas expansion.

Two concurrent breakout sessions focused on green technology and sustainable urban development. The first session, "Driving a Sustainable Tomorrow through Green Technology and Integrated Design," featured speakers from ASTRI, Henderson Land, Arup, and Otherland Limited, discussing integrated design and technologies for citywide decarbonization. Dr Krithpaka Boonfueng from Thailand's National Innovation Agency expressed interest in leveraging Hong Kong's multi-disciplinary strengths for regional sustainability. The second session, supported by BEAM Society Limited and the Hong Kong Green Building Council, examined green building standards, low-carbon construction, and green supply chain opportunities.

Business matching sessions translated dialogue into concrete partnership opportunities, strengthening ties and enabling enterprises to capture emerging green economy opportunities. The HKTDC also organized a Hong Kong Green Team delegation from March 17 to 20, comprising 18 delegates from architecture, engineering, smart city development, ESG advisory, and green technology. The delegation visited the Thai Green Building Institute (TGBI), Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), WHA Industrial Development, and TPI Polene Public Company Limited to explore partnerships.

GreenBiz HK brings together Hong Kong's green service providers across finance, ESG advisory, green building, property technology, and smart city solutions, encouraging businesses to leverage Hong Kong's capital market and professional services for green investments. The HKTDC will continue using this platform to organize business missions and conferences, supporting enterprises in Southeast Asia and the Chinese Mainland to expand internationally and advance regional sustainable development.
