HKTDC August Fairs to Showcase Wellness and Global Delicacies

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is set to open its August events next week, with a strong focus on wellness and quality living. The 36th Food Expo, 10th Beauty & Wellness Expo, and 12th Home Delights Expo will run from 13 to 17 August at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), while the 4th Food Expo PRO and 17th Hong Kong International Tea Fair will take place from 13 to 15 August. The events, under the theme 'Live Well.Stay Well', will bring together over 1,850 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive platform for sourcing, networking, and retail experiences.

This year's fairs mark several milestones, including the first time all ASEAN member states are represented, with debut participations from Brunei and Timor-Leste. New exhibitors from Colombia and Greece also join, and the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China has organized delegations from multiple provinces to showcase premium agricultural products. The Korea Pavilion has expanded by 40% to become the largest overseas pavilion, featuring over 130 exhibitors.

Food Expo PRO introduces a new 'Meat Zone' to cater to the demand for premium meats, with highlights such as Korean frozen marinated barbecue and halal-certified beef tendon balls from a local Hong Kong brand. The popular 'Coffee Zone' returns with exhibitors from Yunnan, Colombia, and other regions, while the 'Food Science and Technology Zone' focuses on alternative foods and food-service technologies, including an intelligent food-service robot. The fair also introduces pet food products for the first time, using patented packaging technology for room-temperature storage.

The Hong Kong International Tea Fair will showcase rare teas, including a naturally mutated purple bud pu'er tea from Yunnan, and features new pavilions for matcha and Yixing teaware. The 'Tea Lifestyle' zone presents innovative tea products such as sparkling tea and tea-based cocktails, demonstrating the integration of tea culture into modern living. The Hong Kong International Tea Culture Forum will explore opportunities for internationalizing Chinese tea brands.

The five themed days—'Happy Eat Happy Life', 'The World in Blink', 'Coffee or Tea?', 'Stay Fresh, Stay Ahead', and 'Let's Chill'—will feature activities like celebrity chef demonstrations, wellness seminars, and horticultural therapy workshops. The Food Expo will highlight desserts and gelato, with over 100 dessert products, and the Gourmet Zone celebrates its 15th edition with 15 celebrity chefs. The Beauty & Wellness Expo introduces the 'Stay Relax' zone and the 'Scentsation' fragrance area, while the Home Delights Expo focuses on quality sleep and smart living, with HKT offering smart home discounts and showcasing its award-winning broadband service.

The International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine and Health Products (ICMCM) has been expanded to three days, featuring over 30 speakers from around the world. The conference will discuss regulatory policies and global pathways for traditional medicine, supporting the 'bringing in' and 'going global' of Chinese medicine. Public education displays and forums on Chinese medicine will also be held at the Food Expo.

To celebrate HKTDC's 60th anniversary, special promotions include free admission before noon for the first 600 visitors daily, '6'-themed offers from exhibitors, and daily lucky draws with prizes worth over HK$1 million. E-tickets are available through various platforms, and visitors can also purchase tickets on-site. The events underscore Hong Kong's position as an international food trading hub and a gateway to the Chinese Mainland and global markets.
