HITN Media Brings Rita Moreno to Lehman College for Hispanic Heritage Month, Championing Latino Representation

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, HITN MEDIA, the leading Spanish-language public media network in the United States, will present Iconic Dialogues with Rita Moreno, a live conversation at Lehman College's Lovinger Theatre in the Bronx on Tuesday, October 20th. The event, sponsored by HITN Media and presented in collaboration with the CUNY Mexican Studies Institute (MSI), Feria Internacional del Libro NYC (FILNYC), and Lehman Stages, underscores HITN's commitment to elevating Hispanic voices, preserving cultural heritage, and creating opportunities for communities to engage with leaders and artists who have shaped American culture.

Rita Moreno, a Puerto Rican actress, singer, and performer, will be in conversation with Cordelia González, exploring Moreno's career, cultural legacy, and the broader significance of Hispanic representation across entertainment, arts, and public life. Moreno is one of the most honored performers in entertainment history, having achieved the EGOT—Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony—and appeared in acclaimed productions such as West Side Story. Her career spans more than eight decades and has helped broaden visibility for Puerto Rican and Latino artists in American popular culture.

"We are proud to bring Iconic Dialogues to Lehman College as part of HITN MEDIA's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration," said Michael D. Nieves, president and CEO of HITN MEDIA. "Hosting Rita Moreno, a Puerto Rican living legend at this event reflects our mission to recognize the trailblazers who have expanded what is possible for our communities, bring audiences together to honor our history, affirm our identity and inspire future generations."

The event is open to the public, but advance registration through Eventbrite registration and information is required. Doors to the Lovinger Theatre will close promptly at 3:45 p.m., and registered guests are encouraged to arrive early. The closest access to the venue is the main entrance at Gate 8, located at Bedford Park Blvd West.

HITN Media reaches more than 35 million households in the United States and Puerto Rico via major distributors including DIRECTV, DIRECTV NOW, AT&T U-verse, AT&T TV, AT&T TV Now, DISH Network, Verizon FiOS TV, Comcast Xfinity, Charter Spectrum, Mediacom, CenturyLink Prism, and Altice, Liberty Cable and Claro (Puerto Rico). The network also offers the HITN GO app, available on Apple, Android, Apple TV, and Roku® with subscription. For more information, visit the corporate website at HITN.org or the TV page at hitn.tv.

The event reflects HITN's role as a national media leader dedicated to ensuring Hispanic history, creativity, and contributions remain visible, celebrated, and accessible to broad audiences. By convening cultural leaders, educational institutions, and community partners around stories that define the Hispanic experience, HITN continues to amplify voices that have historically been underrepresented. For a community that has long fought for recognition, seeing a living legend like Rita Moreno in dialogue at a Hispanic-Serving Institution sends a powerful message: Latino stories matter, and they belong at the center of American cultural life.
