Hispanic Information and Telecommunication Network, Inc. (HITN) has announced a comprehensive celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, designed specifically for Hispanic audiences across the United States. The initiative includes a landmark broadcast event, an interactive digital experience, and an original promotional campaign, all aimed at strengthening the sense of belonging among Hispanic communities while educating and entertaining them.
As part of the celebration, HITN will broadcast the Smithsonian Channel documentary series Aerial America in a marathon titled “50 States in 50 Hours,” airing all day on July 4 and July 5. The series offers Spanish-speaking viewers a breathtaking aerial tour of all 50 states, from Alaska’s peaks to Hawaii’s volcanoes, and from New England’s harbors to the Great Plains. The marathon will be followed by daily episodes starting July 6 at 1:00 and 2:00 PM EDT/PDT. The series is rated TV-G and is described as the most extensive aerial television project ever produced about the United States.
Complementing the broadcast, HITN is launching an original campaign called “America 250,” consisting of short-form segments that highlight iconic landmarks and historic sites across the country. Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Cody Williams and produced by Ordinary Sunday, the segments feature an original score by Grammy and Tony Award-winning musician Bryan Carter. These segments will air throughout HITN’s regular schedule all summer and will also be available on the HITN GO streaming app for free.
HITN is also launching an interactive digital experience at hitn.tv/aniversario-250/. The hub features an interactive U.S. map where visitors can discover facts about each state and view short video clips from Aerial America. Users can earn virtual stickers to fill a collectible digital album, turning the anniversary into a nationwide adventure accessible from any device.
“Through this campaign, HITN seeks to strengthen the sense of belonging among Hispanic communities across the country, while remaining true to our mission of educating and entertaining audiences,” said Michael D. Nieves, President and CEO of HITN. The initiative underscores HITN’s role as the leading Spanish-language public media network, reaching more than 35 million homes in the U.S. and Puerto Rico through major providers like DIRECTV, Comcast Xfinity, and Charter Spectrum.
