Greenland Mines Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRML) announced the formation of a Strategic Advisory Board and appointed Constantine E. Karayannopoulos, Thomas Abraham-James, and Bent Olsvig Jensen as its initial members. The board brings together expertise in global rare earth markets, processing and downstream supply chains, direct technical and operational history at the Skaergaard Palladium-Platinum-Gold Project, and mine development, operations, logistics, and stakeholder engagement in Greenland. The company intends to appoint two to three additional members as it broadens the expertise and relationships available to management and its board of directors.
The appointments come at a pivotal time for Greenland Mines, which is advancing two key projects: the Skaergaard Project in southeast Greenland and, subject to closing of a previously announced transaction, the Sarfartoq neodymium-praseodymium (Nd-Pr) rare earths project in southwest Greenland. These projects are central to the company’s strategy of building a multi-asset platform with exposure to rare earth magnet materials, precious metals, and selected midstream processing opportunities. The Strategic Advisory Board will support Greenland Mines as it advances Sarfartoq and Skaergaard through technical studies, permitting, commercial engagement, and integrated development planning, while also developing its broader North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor strategy.
Karayannopoulos brings more than 30 years of experience in rare earth elements, critical minerals, and advanced materials, including direct historical involvement with Sarfartoq. His deep understanding of the rare earth market and downstream supply chains could be instrumental in positioning Greenland Mines’ Nd-Pr project to serve growing demand for magnet materials used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and electronics. Abraham-James previously worked directly on Skaergaard and brings exploration, project-development, and public-markets experience. His firsthand knowledge of the project and capital markets expertise may help the company navigate the complexities of advancing a major palladium-platinum-gold asset. Olsvig Jensen brings approximately 30 years of leadership and operating experience in Greenland, providing valuable insight into local stakeholder engagement, logistics, and regulatory environments—critical factors for successful mine development in the region.
The formation of this advisory board is significant because it signals Greenland Mines’ commitment to de-risking and accelerating its projects. By assembling a team with direct experience at its key assets and in Greenland, the company is better positioned to overcome technical, operational, and permitting challenges. Moreover, the board’s expertise in rare earth markets and downstream supply chains could help Greenland Mines capitalize on the increasing global focus on critical minerals and reduce reliance on non-allied sources. As the company pursues its North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor vision—linking Greenland resources with allied downstream jurisdictions and industrial infrastructure—the advisory board’s guidance will be essential in shaping strategic partnerships and commercial opportunities.
