Glen Rose, Texas, known as the Dinosaur Capital of Texas, is gearing up for a summer full of events, starting with a traditional Fourth of July celebration on July 4, 2026, and followed by a concert by Texas country band Reckless Kelly at the newly remodeled Texas Amphitheater on July 18. The events provide an opportunity for visitors to experience the town's unique blend of paleontological history, outdoor recreation, and small-town charm.
The Fourth of July festivities begin with a pancake breakfast at the Senior Citizen Center at 8:00 AM, followed by a hometown parade around the historic downtown square at 10:00 AM. Free registration is available for community participants. From noon to 2:00 PM, Dinosaur World will host a family-friendly celebration featuring live music, hot dog eating contests, giveaways, and life-sized dinosaur exhibits. A ceremony at the Creation Evidence Museum takes place at 2:00 PM. The evening culminates at Wheeler Branch Park, hosted by the Somervell County Water District, with fireworks and free live music by the Brady Hulsey Band starting at 7:00 PM.
On July 18, 2026, the Texas Amphitheater will host Reckless Kelly, a Texas country music favorite. The historic open-air venue, recently acquired by the MSAS family, has been completely reimagined with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. Its signature water moat creates a unique concert experience under the stars. Tickets start at $55 and are available on Eventbrite. Visitors are encouraged to make it a weekend getaway, exploring Glen Rose's attractions such as Dinosaur Valley State Park, where real dinosaur tracks are preserved in the Paluxy River bed, and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, a drive-through safari park. The town features 98 custom-painted dinosaurs throughout the community, and the free Glen Rose Dinosaur Pass on the Bandwango app guides visitors to 35 of them. Completing the scavenger hunt earns a free entry pass to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.
