FWD Group Holdings Limited (FWD Group) has marked its 13th anniversary by announcing a series of charitable grants designed to support more than 13,000 people in communities across Asia. The initiative underscores the company's commitment to giving back to the regions where it operates, aligning with its mission to change the way people feel about insurance.
Since its establishment in 2013, FWD Group has grown from its early operations in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Thailand into a pan-Asian life and health insurer serving millions of customers across 10 markets. In July last year, the company reached a significant milestone with its listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the stock code 1828.
Huynh Thanh Phong, Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of FWD Group, emphasized the importance of community support: "At FWD Group, changing the way people feel about insurance is about much more than looking after our customers – it’s also about supporting the communities where we operate. These 13 grants are a meaningful way to give back to the people and places that have been part of our journey. Together with trusted community partners, we hope to make a real difference in people’s lives, while also bringing our caring value to life through employee volunteering."
The 13 grants will fund initiatives across the region, focusing on financial literacy, career readiness, entrepreneurship, health and wellbeing, and community recovery. In Hong Kong SAR, the JA SparktheDream Wellness Programme with Junior Achievement Hong Kong will be extended to equip 2,600 primary school students with social, emotional, and financial skills. Additionally, Save the Children Hong Kong will use a football-based programme to support 200 children and 80 caregivers affected by the Tai Po fire, while Plan International Hong Kong will lead psychosocial support and community-building initiatives for over 6,500 students, parents, and teachers in Tai Po.
In Cambodia, JCI Mekong will provide financial education workshops to 200 young people, and in Indonesia, KUMPUL will empower 10 female entrepreneurs through the InnovateHer Academy 4.0. Japan will see football clinics for over 15 visually impaired people with Hands On Tokyo, promoting inclusion and wellbeing. In Malaysia, GivingHub will support 170 low-income families with health education and financial literacy workshops, along with 100 cancer screening sessions.
The Philippines will benefit from Junior Achievement Philippines' programme helping 100 university students transition into the workforce, while Club Rainbow (Singapore) will host a carnival for 50 children with chronic illnesses and their caregivers. Thailand will extend career readiness support for seven disadvantaged youth through hospitality training scholarships with Pimali Foundation, and Junior Achievement Thailand will train 30 educators to deliver financial literacy education.
Vietnam will see workshops and debate competitions for 800 students by Startup Vietnam Foundation and Dear Our Community, and Little Roses Foundation will provide 76 computers to schools in Khanh Hoa Province, enabling 1,800 students to continue learning after severe flooding. These grants reflect FWD Group's dedication to creating positive social impact and fostering resilience in the communities it serves.
