D1 Training, a fitness enrichment concept that employs the five core tenets of athletic-based training, has opened a new location in Bellaire at 5300 N. Braeswood Blvd, Suite 44. The facility offers a sports-science backed training regimen led by certified trainers, designed to help individuals of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals.
Franchisees Hans and Jen Straub bring extensive collegiate athletic training experience to the new location. Hans has over 20 years of experience in collegiate strength and conditioning, having coached at the University of San Diego, the University of Washington, Stanford University, the University of South Florida, and Rice University, where he served as head of strength and conditioning for seven years. Throughout his career, he has trained 65 NFL players, including six first-round picks such as Andrew Luck, and 50 professional baseball players, as well as 10 Olympians, including gold medalist Simone Manuel.
Jen Straub worked as an athletic trainer at Stanford University for five years and at the University of Oklahoma for two years before transitioning to a clinical setting in South Florida. Her professional background spans primary care, orthopedics, and fertility.

D1 Training offers four age-based programs: Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18), and D1 Adult. Each program is based on five athletic tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. The facility also provides group, semi-private, and one-on-one training with certified coaches.
The brand has expanded nationally through franchising, with more than 150 facilities open and over 100 additional locations in development. Notable franchisees include NBA star Chris Paul and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.
