FingerMotion Inc. (NASDAQ: FNGR) has entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Lyken AI Computing Inc. (Lyken.AI) and BlueFlare Energy Solutions Inc. to establish a preferred, non-exclusive framework for matching enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) demand with potential modular behind-the-meter (BTM) capacity. The capacity would be evaluated or developed under FingerMotion's existing alliance with BlueFlare, initially focusing on the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. The framework contemplates FingerMotion as owner-operator and project sponsor, BlueFlare as the Western Canadian development partner, and Lyken.AI as the customer-facing demand and managed-services layer.
This MOU signifies a progression in FingerMotion's BlueFlare relationship, which has evolved from a single-project discussion to a multi-site development program. The company is also in discussions with multiple natural gas suppliers and midstream counterparties regarding potential firm supply arrangements for planned BTM generation. However, no definitive gas supply agreement, capacity commitment, customer contract, project financing, or expected revenue has been established, and each project will be evaluated individually subject to financing, site control, supply, customer commitments, regulatory approvals, and other conditions.
The move underscores the growing importance of AI infrastructure and the need for reliable, scalable power solutions. By leveraging behind-the-meter generation, FingerMotion aims to provide dedicated power to AI and HPC facilities, potentially reducing reliance on the traditional grid and offering more predictable energy costs. This approach could be particularly attractive in regions with high energy demand and limited grid capacity.
FingerMotion's core business is in mobile payment and recharge platform solutions in China, but the company has been expanding its technological footprint. The MOU with Lyken.AI and BlueFlare represents a diversification into the AI infrastructure sector, aligning with broader industry trends where companies are seeking to capitalize on the exponential growth of AI computing demands.
The framework is non-exclusive and non-binding, indicating that it is an initial step towards potential collaborations. The company has not yet secured any definitive agreements or funding, and there is no guarantee that any projects will materialize. Nonetheless, the MOU positions FingerMotion as a potential player in the AI infrastructure space, which could open up new revenue streams and growth opportunities.
