FingerMotion Secures Second Alberta Campus Site for 99 MW AI and HPC Program

FingerMotion (NASDAQ: FNGR) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Hanna Campus #1 Inc., has entered into a binding letter of intent to acquire approximately 20.2 acres of industrial land in Hanna, Alberta. The site is intended for development of a planned 9.9 MW artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) campus. This marks the second campus under FingerMotion’s previously announced Alberta program, which targets approximately 99 MW across its Brooks, Coronation, Fox Creek, and Vulcan Zones.

The Hanna site has 3 MW of grid power available through an agreement with the Town of Hanna, as well as a natural gas interconnection through ATCO Energy to support behind-the-meter generation. These power arrangements are critical for AI and HPC operations, which require substantial and reliable electricity. FingerMotion intends to contract capacity to AI and HPC clients under long-term agreements before committing construction capital, with BlueFlare Group Holdings Inc. serving as development partner across the 99 MW program. The company expects permitting, power, and design for each campus to take approximately 120 to 180 days.

This development matters because it represents a significant strategic shift for FingerMotion, a company historically focused on mobile payment and recharge platform solutions in China. By moving into AI and HPC infrastructure, FingerMotion is positioning itself to capitalize on the explosive demand for computing power driven by artificial intelligence applications. The Alberta program, if fully realized, would establish the company as a meaningful player in the North American data center market, potentially diversifying its revenue streams and reducing its reliance on the Chinese mobile payments market.

The emphasis on securing long-term contracts before committing construction capital suggests a capital-efficient approach that could mitigate risks associated with large-scale infrastructure projects. However, the success of this venture will depend on the company’s ability to attract AI and HPC clients and execute on its development timeline. The involvement of BlueFlare Group Holdings Inc. as development partner adds expertise, but the project still faces typical risks such as permitting delays and power availability.

For investors, this news is important because it signals a potential transformation of FingerMotion’s business model. The company’s core competency in China’s mobile payment market provides a foundation, but the AI and HPC initiative could open up new growth avenues. As the user base of its primary business continues to grow, FingerMotion is developing additional value-added technologies to market to its users. The vision is to rapidly grow the user base and develop an ecosystem of highly engaged users, which would strategically position the company to onboard larger customer bases. FingerMotion eventually hopes to serve over 1 billion users in the China market and expand the model to other regional markets.
