Finfluential Survey Names Kitces, Benz, and Zweig as Top Financial Influencers

Finfluential, a Substack publication from Lowe Group that covers innovations in financial influencers, has released the results of its first-ever "Centers of Finfluence" survey. The survey, which polled more than 60 financial professionals, asked participants to name the three voices they follow most closely in the industry. Michael Kitces, creator of the Nerd's Eye View blog, took the top spot, while Morningstar's Christine Benz and Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Zweig tied for second place.

According to Finfluential Editor Greg Joslyn, the survey highlights individuals who have built their influence over decades rather than overnight. "Financial media is more crowded than ever with new voices constantly vying for attention, but a small number of people continue to set the terms of the conversation," Joslyn said.

Michael Kitces has spent 18 years developing his Nerd's Eye View blog into one of the industry's most-read sources of technical education for financial advisors. The blog now reaches a large monthly readership and anchors a wider business built around advisor training. Kitces' influence extends beyond the blog, as he is a frequent speaker and commentator on financial planning topics.

Christine Benz has spent over 30 years at Morningstar, most recently as its Director of Personal Finance and Retirement Planning. She has used that platform to build The Long View into a leading retirement- and investing-focused podcast that features top names in the field. Benz also pens a column that is considered a must-read for retirement industry professionals.

Jason Zweig has spent years holding Wall Street accountable through his Wall Street Journal column, The Intelligent Investor. His work is a mix of hard-hitting investigative journalism and plain-spoken reminders about fees, complexity, and market realities. This output has earned him some of financial journalism's top honors.

What unites these three influencers is their staying power: each has built a distinctive, consistent voice over a long career. Finfluential will publish its runners-up list next week, along with a look at which voices resonated most with different types of audiences.
