The grant is open to students enrolled at accredited colleges or universities who are on pre-med, pre-nursing, pre-PA, pre-pharmacy, or similar tracks. Applicants must maintain a strong academic record and submit an essay of 750–1,000 words describing a personal experience that solidified their commitment to healthcare. The essay should address how the experience shaped their understanding of patient care and how they plan to carry those lessons into future practice.

Dr. Ian Weisberg, the founder of the grant, is a distinguished cardiac electrophysiologist known for pioneering contributions to cardiac care. His career includes developing electrophysiology programs, performing high-volume life-saving procedures, and contributing to global health initiatives, such as designing a cardiac operating room in Kenya.
