Cymatics Digital LLC has announced that acclaimed producer Yang Qian will serve as Lead Producer for its upcoming short film My Life in LA. The 15-20 minute coming-of-age story, scheduled to begin filming on September 21, 2027, with completion targeted for April 15, 2028, follows an 11-year-old boy named Charlie navigating neglect, childhood fears, and resilience in Los Angeles. The project is the sixth installment in Cymatics Digital's slate and aims for broad appeal on the international festival circuit.
As Lead Producer, Yang Qian holds primary creative, managerial, and financial authority. Her responsibilities include overseeing script development, assembling and managing the creative team, supervising production management—including child performer protections and safety protocols for earthquake simulation scenes—leading financing and sponsorship negotiations, directing post-production workflow, and crafting the festival submission and distribution strategy. Her leadership ensures the film meets artistic and professional benchmarks for international recognition.
The production brings together a notable team: director Florian "Yifeng" Ling, known for his acclaimed short Pay It; cinematographer Siwei Li, recipient of AbelCine's Fresh Perspectives in Cinematography Grant; production designer Yun Gu; and editor Guanqing Lin, an ACE Eddie Award-winning talent at A24.
